Boat: CONTENDER 36 CUDDY 23 OPEN 36 FISHAROUND
Home Port: EAST COAST
Best Catch: There is always something better!
Glad to hear that it is all working out.

If I understood correctly the confusion lies in the lapse of time between point C to D. The boat was repaired and wasn't used for some time. When the boat was attempted to be used more problems arose. So in that time lapse it was assumed that the boat was being used in between "problem free" and that was not the case.

Post cardinal Joe?

I remember in A post to the Hooligan you busting on him because you said that without the high octane the 275hp verado was only like 250hp,is there any truth to this and if so John whats the difference between the yamaha 250 and verado 275 if your running regular gas through the motor they still produce 250hp to the prop??

I use 89% octane & a Gas Booster – instead of the required 91% octane - It takes me just a little bit longer to reach optional speed! If you use 87% octane the 275 HP will cut back to between 250 to 260 HP and it will take longer to reach optional speed, but you will reach it! Cardinal Joe

Post ok!point taken!thanks!

89octane=10-15cents more at the pump + octane booster how much would you need to fill A tank for say an offshore trip, say $10.00+.=I'll just stick with fueling up with 87 at my nearest wawa and settle for my reliable f250 YAMAHA's. oh the Hooligan also had A problem with his verados but they covered his under warranty and gave him A whole new powerhead. This was also A gen1 verado. But was A 06.The gen2 verados came out in like mid06 and where and are pretty much trouble free.

Fact is I have driven a lot of boats over the years and hands down the Verado's have what I would call serious pushing power. When these things ran before all the problems started on these I was tickled pink with these motors. Like I said earlier they burned a ton fuel, but they have also improved apon this in recent years.

Yamaha freaking no doubt great motors probably one of the most reliable on the market. I can say though that I have ran a few boats with 250's on them and they did not have the pushing power that the verado's have.
Now I had the privlage of running Contender One in California for 3 weeks with twin 350's and I will say that these had some real pushing power as well.

In my mind Merc has always been a performace motor and has always been built for speeeeeeeeeeeeeed. Reggie Fountian has gone along way in the world with Merc on his transom.

Tons and Tons of guys have bought these motors in recent years and are very happy.

I am not sad in any way shape or form that I will have 3 black ass Verado's on the back In fact Im proud cause I know I will be at the front of the pack next year
what makes the difference between the yam 250 and the verado 250 that puts the verado in front of the yam in the speed zone..

too bad you cant have it all. i should start an outboard company that makes verado speed with yami reliability

wanna sponsor me admin

I have always had a soft spot for Mercs in my heart. I remember my dad repowering his lake boat with a 150 horse Black Max, way back. Must have been mid 70's, maybe before. I think he might be still running it.
