Wrong Epoxy
I accidentally used "Rod Wrapping Finish"epoxy to epoxy my butt portion of my cork assembly. What do you think the chances are the cork will come loose from the blank? I felt that rather than take it off, the butt does not get the torque that the fore-grip gets when fighting a fish. This rod will be used for maximum of 40" rockfish while trolling.
Do you think I will have trouble?

If Ignorance is bliss, Why aren't more people happy?
The butt gets a bunch of torque when it is in a rod holder trolling. The good news is if it doesn't hold, you won't have to go through the effort of removing it.
Chances are that you will have some trouble eventually.

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
I am thinking the rod wrap epoxy won't cure properly since is designed to cure in free air. The epoxy for grips will cure in the very narrow gap between the rod butt and the grip material. If you have not wrapped the rod cut it off now and replace it, or you can replace the butt grip section with cork tape. The alternative is to contact the manufacturer of the wrap finish and ask them.

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
Sommertime,
The finish should cure as its a chemical reaction, bot one requiring air. I think your bigger concern (But not a big one as it won't last due to the weak bond) is that the cork will be eaten by the rodholder over time. When it degrades, just cut it off and slip a Vetry butt (Graphite Tubing from Mudhole / American Tackle) on there and finish it off.

I use U-40 epoxies from Trondak. Had some rod finish that was 10 years old, I called them an was assured it would work, it did. Mudhole sells the stuff as does Anglers Workshop. Better than flex coat IMO.

As long as the mix ratio is correct, it will cure and stick.....no problem.
For cork you will be absolutely fine, since the lower viscosity wrap epoxy, will penetrate the cork better.

Thanks everyone. I will not make the same mistake again, I THINK
