Trying to figure out how to produce my own "Chatham Special" .... it would be my first build

I used a custom set of rods a few years ago on a boat out of Chatham/Harwichport. They were this style of rod - 80 blank, long, and bendy. I really liked the length out of the rod holder. The owner would not tell me the blank that he used.

I am thinking of Seeker or Calstar.

Mudhole helped my pick a Seeker SS - 2x4 (line 60-130, tip 14, butt 1.05). Maybe a SS 3x5. Would rather not have to spend $220 if I can help it...but will. Any thoughts on this? The blank is 7' long...what will that give me when I am done in terms of length (adding a 130 reel and butt)?

    Any thoughts on that blank?

    Thanks

I applaud you for trying this, but I would look at the cost of building these vs having someone build them for you. There are a lot of special things that need to be done that will assure you that the rod is built correctly and will not explode in the heat of battle.
