Just curious what you guys are using to build your whitey rods. Looking for an idea or two to match up with TLD25's or similar reels. How about for guides?
Thanks a bunch

I would look into Calstar blanks. They have a solid tip which would be good for sinking the hook. I would use Fuji Silicone Carbide Guides. They are the best. Just my thoughts.
Current Affair, you wouldn't happen to know model#'s of the blanks you recommend?
i have the blank on the thread wrapping machine now. the model no is gf700m
Grady, did you trim the blank down or leave it at 7ft.
Calstars are great. Probably the best you might find. You could also try the Seeker Eglass LB606's in the 15-40. Fast tip action a little less cost... Plus you can put a #12 tip on it to get your knots or hardware down easier and faster. Fuji turbos all the way.
i tried to talk him out of it a few times

BUT he likes metal
i would leave full length with plastic
..its all about YOUR needs..either way will work..and make a great rod.. the 700M is a very nice WM blank..i also sell a nice "special" blank for WM and Cobia rods, about 1/2 the price. and a little more parabolic. for guides HBSG are Killer you might need a extra guide, but they are nice. also the Fuji Sin guides in(chrome) or black..i have them on the white marlin rod on my site
I guess you need to decide if you are going to use a uni-butt or a slick butt to determine how much to trim off. Is there a "standard" size for whitey rods?
I've caught whites before, just never paid attention to borrowed rods length![]()
I'm guessing 6'6" would be about average.
6'6' and 7' are common.. Most are 7' with a blanks rated to fish about 30# line
