what type of bait do i need to fish with and where is a good place to fish i have never been there and i want to fish while im there

It's a great place to fish! I assume you mean from shore. My advice would be to go to Whalebone Tackle on the causeway (just as the main road turns towards Manteo).

Billy can give you great advice on what's biting and get you all hooked up. A good basic start would be a bottom rig with bloodworms or squid. Also keep a spoon or two around to cast for bluefish if they come through.
