I have and use the small spheros for the light lines.

I have and use Shimano 3500 and 4500 baitrunners for the medium lines.

I plan to purchase the new big spheros for the heavy lines.

i have every size penn ss. i like my 4500 for light tackle. i also have been using an okuma inspira. unbelievably smooth and powerful. great bang for the buck. recently checked out the daiwa tierra and they look great and priced reasonably.

For the price a Quantum Cabo is hard to beat. It cost a little more than most reels but you get alot more features. Stradics and Penn SS are also good reels.

For light to medium tackle I feel the Shimano Baitrunner 4500b & 6500b are the best bang for the buck !! for around the early 100 dollar range they are IMO the best reel for that price range. If I were to be shootin for bigger game on spinning gear, then definitly an Accurate or Van Stal would be in order !! Light gear especially Striped Bass hands down the Baitrunners !!

For less than a $100.00, you can't go wrong with the Penn Sargus Metal Spinning Reels. A little on the heavy side compaired to Daiwa but a great drag and has held up well for me chartering...great braid reel

For bigger offshore, Sails and Dolphin, my Penn Slammers have given me over 8 years of great service...

    MirrOlure when big fish count!

I have a Spheros 4500 that had been through 6 seasons before being taken down and cleaned. I know-bad on me. It didn't have any problems until this past year when I noticed it was a little stiff. Tore it down, cleaned it up, replaced the shaft bearing, and now it's better than new. Several Mahi, 30+inch stripers, AJ's, and all kinds of random stuff on this reel. Needs new drag washers right now (not bad after 7 years). I will buy another when this one finally quits.
