what do I need?

Kinda new to Saltwater fishing, and am looking to start buying my own gear. The types of fishing I am going to be doing will range from inshore (sounds and rivers) to the reefs and wrecks in my area (Savannah GA) What types of rods and reels should I be looking at? There are so many to choose from I am having difficulty figuring out what is for me? My questions are revolving around do I really need some of this stuff I see out there. Conventional reels, big game reels, stand up rods, rods with rollers, and the like. Any help and direction would be greatly appreciated.

the tackle can depend on your budget
and the style of fishing
and how many outfits you WANT
some guys WANT 8-10 inshore outfits
but budget allows 2-3 GOOD outfits
wrecks and reef fishing you could possibly use the same setups, depending on fish sizes
conventional are nice, as are the new spinning reels
what have you been using?
probably for inshore and reef you wont need roller guides on your rods
you may be able to start with 3-4 good setups
