I work at various boat and fishing shows around the USA selling my line of custom lures
Wahoo: Piano wire or cable?
Most of the fishermen down here where I live use 49strand cable. But most of the post I see here talk about piano wire. Whats the difference and does the single wire get hit more??
If Ignorance is bliss, Why aren't more people happy?

I've got a couple of very heavy machined highspeed wahoo lures on 49 strand - I think that is the perfect application. The 49Strand is more flexible, less likely to kink. At high speed, visibility isn't much of an issue.
For Meat fishing (rigged Ballyhoo) I've seen a distinct improvement in strikes with piano wire over coffee colored stainless single strand wire. Piano wire is cheap - I can easily afford to rerig every one after each trip. If one lure is particularly hot on a given day, I can swap the piano wire quickly without tools when it gets kinked, or after a few fish.
At normal trolling speeds, you are not going to stress the piano wire during a day of fishing unless you kink it.
