Unknown reel brands - are they ok?
Hi there,
recently checking the Internet for a new 80w reel to buy especially on ebay I found several reels of brands I never heard of...
Offshore America reels being one of them...
Does someone have any experience with these reels ?
Thanks

i have seen a pro challenger 80w and it looks like it might last one season with a decent amount of use, i have also seen a couple other reels that look similar on ebay (i assume you are talking about big gold reels?). a cheap reel might seem like a good option at the time, but 2 cheap reels will usually get you 1 nice reel that if taken care of will last a very long time.

The issue is parts man. Believe me...i've thought about cutting that corner. However, when drags/bearings/springs start to go and you can't get replacements...then you'll wish you spent the money up front.

okay and thanks people !! I now opted for a okuma titus gold 50 W II...
I opened it before first use and greased everything just as Alan sais, cause after two sessions only I got the problems Alan warns of with the silver version.
Cheers and see you

I've got 6 of the TG50WII and happy with them. Did the work on them and was pretty easy to do. Good luck!!!
