Traveling and carry on

i am commuting back and forth from philly to destin florida. anyone know the restrictions on fishing reels and carry on. i would like to bring my penn 50's but they have line on them.

Wasn't a problem on my last trip down to Panama, had metal and graphite reels all loaded with line on carryon.

Dad went down to FL a month ago and took reels on carryon again loaded with line no issue.

appreciate the info, definetely wouldn't want to be stuck at security stripping new line off reels

They didn't ever have any problem with the reels.

The only problem they did have was with some ilander style lures (with bullet heads, not rigged) I had in carry ons.... We sure got some funny looks when they went through the X ray machine sure provided some laughs.

Have taken 50 and 30 sized reels with line on them. Always transported in an "Albakore" reel case that fits in overhead. When going through security I annouce to the screener that fishing reels are coming through. No problems
