Travel Rods - Why Shimano and Penn don't sell them to the US market?

I can get only packages up to 42" in lenght by mail, so I can only buy two piece 6'6" rods or telescopic surf fishing rods.

I have a 9' telescopic surf/pier Penn rod that I bought from UK. I also have a 11.5' Shimano surf fishing telescopic rod made for the french market, got this one used from a guy in the UK also.

Shimano has some nice surf fishing rods, but they sell them only in the Asia. Actually they're also for sale here in Brazil, only because there's a company who imports them.

A few days ago I found the Penn Powerstix and Shimano STC series of rods ... only available in the UK and few other countries in Europe and Asia.



North americans don't like travel rods?

I've been looking for rods for kite fishing (one for the kite line and one for the bait line) and the guy who I bought the kites from helped me to buy a cheap two piece trolling rod to use as the kite rod. I also bought a reel for the kite line.

If everything works I'll need a 2 or 4 piece rod for the bait line to use with a large trolling reel (Penn Senator). There's a UK seller on ebay selling a Penn 4 piece rod.

I was mainly looking for a "travel" trolling rod (all rollers), I bought one but don't know about the quality.

I plan to try the kites this sunday or in the next week... I'm buying tons of stuff so I hope they'll work fine with the local winds
