    TLD 5 TLD 10 Specs

Does anyone have the specs for the TLD 5 and TLD 10? I want to know the max drag and the line capacity. Are these reels interchangable with the parts of a TLD 15 minus the spool width?

    Thanks,
    Butch

Wish I could help you more. I have the exploded view of the reel and that's about it. All I can help you with is line capacities.

    14lb. 350yds
    17lb. 280
    20lb. 220
    25lb. 170

    That's the TLD 5

butch, most of the tld 5/10 parts are not interchangeable with the tld 15. drag ranges are pretty low for the stock reels, maybe 5-7 pound of drag at strike before losing freespool. i've hot rodded a few and can usually get 10-12 pound at strike, maybe 15#'s with poor freespool. the tld 5 would be a good reel for straight 15-20# mono, the tld 10 for straight 20-25# mono, with 5-7#'s of drag. http://smoothdrag.com/ has carbon fiber drag washers, drag grease and bearings for the reel. the tld 15 rebuild post at

will guide you through the tld 5/10's fairly well. use the same heavy duty belleville's from shimano and it should be fine. call shimano at 877-577-0600 for the bellevilles, and maybe even a slightly larger tld 15 handle. hope this helps. alan

Alantani, I've never looked too hard. I need a clicker for the tld 5. Is there parts availability for this somewhere? Thanks

Thanks fellas. I've been looking for a small lever drag reel. I was just curious if I should spend the money on a 15 year old reel on ebay or buy one of the new Shimano Tyrnos. I saw a TLD 5 go for $367 this week. I haven't been impressed with the avets and Shimano Tyrnos has a 12 and 16 with or without 2 speed with a max drag of 33lbs.

My TLD10 is missing a critical part

I see this has been a while since discussed....but apparantly it is a spring washer that makes the reel jump over when in free spool. Other than that, it is perfect. Several dealers have told me the TLD 5 and 10 cannot get parts for many years now. I would love to find they are wrong if someone can help.

if the clicker assembly from the tld 15 doesn't match up with the 5 and 10, thre should be a way to modify it to fit. if i get another one in, i'll take a look. alan

Butch, if your hell bent on that size reel, take a look at the shimano charter special. The 1000 is the equivilent of the tld 5 and the 2000 is the samea s the tld 10, plus you get the levelwind. I use a 1000 for alot of stuff in the bay. the 2000 is a wide version.
