    thread

Does anyone know if gudebrod makes a clear thread for wrapping rods? Or at least a thread that when finish is applied it turns transparent? I think it would look cool if the guides looked like they were just sitting there with nothing holding them on.

Never seen clear thread. What kind of rod do you want to do this too? I have heard of a few guys, and a production rod that is sold in australia, that use no thread and they glue the guide to the blank and finish. Not to sure if I would try it something other than an ultralight. If you have a junk blank laying around try white with no color preserver, would think that the thread should fade. Maybe Paul knows of something or some way for sure.

Thanks guys. I was told CP white and gray will turn transparent when finish it added. Just think it would be a neat idea, and maybe a conversation starter or something. Thanks for the responses.

    Interesting ....

What kind of rods would you do this to?? I ask only because I grind the foot of the guides down just a little to make the thread transition from blank to foot smoother. So for how I build I would think that would not look as good (scuffs up the finish on the foot) ??

Two suggestions I could make would be to grind each foot as uniform as possible and then get some testors hobby paint for metal models and repaint what you scuffed up. Or since the thread will become clear just wrap without grinding. Think about it, you grind the feet to make the tranistion look more appeling when the thread is visible. But if you're not going to see the thread it really doesn't matter. Sorry if that sounded like a smarta$$ comment.
