I had a problem with my Taco Sport Slam outrigger basess that were less than a year old. I sheared the pivot pin while 70 miles offshore.
I called Taco's toll free number and explained my troubles and the tech said that was a common problem on this run of bases. He told me he would send me new bases. I thought I misunderstood him and asked if I could get the needed part. He said no. They would ship me a pair of thier new and improved bases. I thanked him still thinking it was a misunderstanding and he would send me the repair parts. About a week later a new set of slightly different looking bases showed up at my front door.
You hear so many horror stories these days reguarding company's standing behind thier product I wanted to share a little good news.....
juist to present an opposite view, I had a taco mount that was ripped off by a tree (don't ask i should sue the county....) When I called them and explained the situation, that could i purchase just the port side mount, they blew me off and said i would have to purchase a complete set. Not very nice.
The good side to this story is Eastern Marine in Delaware took care of me, selling me half of a set for half price, they said they would send the other one back to the factory. GREAT folks to deal with!
