    suggestion stand up bent butt

i have a set of wind on roller guides off of an 80 chair rod that i took off the rod and are at the tackle shop getting lubed and get rolling smooth again.

my question is i have a couple of 9/0 senators with braid sitting around and I would like to piece together a little bent butt for the 9/0s and poss.ibly up to an 80. I would like to build the rod so that it might be a little heavy for the 9/0 but still work under the load of an 80.

i would like for it to still be used with my braid harness fighting a fish comfortably.

under all these circustances, is there still anyone willing to point me in the right direction as far as hardware (rod components) i need to buy to take it to our local rod builder for him to piece togehter for me?

    thanks-joseph

I did almost exactly what you are wanting to do and listen to the guy selling the tackle. There are 2 sizes of bent but for stand up. Go with the smaller on or the reel will be to far away. I got the larger of the stand up bent butt and it was to large. I returned it and went with the smaller one. I also went is a blank for a 50. Like an rt 50. The rod blanks are just to big and stiff. I built 2 and have penn international 70s on them.

The guides from the 80 may be to big for a true standup blank.
I built mine from a Penn standup rod. Removed the foam butt , reinforced the end of the blank, glued the Aftco mini butt on. I made 2 this way and both are going strong. You will need a harness to get the full benefit of the bent butt stand up.
