anyone with experience with stuart guides. Looked at a friends rod with these and they look simpler, easier to service than aftco. Any thoughts??

Most of my personal mid to heavy gear is stuarts and I love em...![]()
thanks,
just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing something. i'm searching for some new 50 stand up rods and want to find ones with these rollers. tom
I was the owner of Chaos rods and sold out in 2000. The Stuart Guides were my favorite. They seem to take less maintanance than the Aftco. Both are good. it is just a personal choice. I will be back in the rod building industry this fall as Boomerang fishing and at many of the boat shows now that my non compete clause has been vacated by Chaos rods defaulting on their debt to me. If you have any question you can contact me at Gator4b6@aol.com
we typically use aftco and fuji guides on rods.
the quality is there. and they are proven.
i do use the staurt and the new pac bay, along with any other roller guides made, W/T ,all american, ect.
some guys want matching rods so they stick with what they have.
the staurt are cheaper than the aftco.
so building rods with them we can sell for less.
thats another selling point.
i have seen that most rollers if maintained will work fine.
the staurt "style" of roller seems to bend a little more than aftco.
i have fixed more of that style because of bending/abuse
it is all personal choice.
i guess saving a little money on these guides . will allow you to put them on a very nice blank for about the same money as using the aftco on a slightly cheaper blank.
