    Spooling a Shimano Stella 8000/10000FA

Wanted to get your thoughts on recommendations for spooling a Shimano Stella 8000 or 10000FA...will be used offshore.
What lb. braid/mono and what brand? Should I put a mono backing on to start the spool, then put on braid with a fluoro leader?
    Any help would be appreciated...thanks!

You could start the spool with a little mono..then fill with braid,50 or 65# if you are going to use it jigging, i would use the PE Jigging line..with a short mono or floro leader..what are you going to be using it for? and what rod is going under that sweet reel

what are your recommendations for the rod? i will probably use it (Stella 10000FA) for dolphin tuna kings etc...
to be honest, i got a really great deal on it, so now in the process of trying to figure out what it's best use will be

    Bluefin,

That's a nice rig. I've got a few Stellas and can't fish with anything else now. One of my set ups is a 8000 with 50# Jerry Brown spectra. All you need for backing is a few turns of mono- 30# is fine. After that, spool away! On the 8000 I got a little over 300yards, so on the 10000 you should get much more than that. From there, a short flouro leader and you're ready for just about anything out there.... just about. Good luck, and have fun. Nothing like the sound of a Stella screaming!
