    thanks lee, I still have the green one. it is a stcroix scIV 8wt and one of my favorites. you need to try one of the fly rods with a carbon grip. you won't want to use anything else. it allows you to feel every nuance of the rod blank.
    jazzrockskier- there are some other options than just eva for rods used in rodholders. i have had success with carbon, differing heat shrink,cord, and other materials depending on the type of rod.

    Really nice grip work - I agree - there is nothing like the feel of a carbon grip for a trout rod or fly rod

    im heading down to beaufort/atlantic beach for the weekend...let me knowif you want to check them out in person..i will probably have a few in the truck..not sure if i will have time to wet a line, but i hope to try at least for a short while.
