    Snap swivels

what does the number on the pack (of snap swivels) mean? I see 5, 8, even 2/0. Most importantly, how do I tell tensile strength of a snap (before it pops ...)

I would assume the numbers correspond to the lb rating of the swivel but I don't know. I just buy the ones that look good.

Here's a question. Why do people use such big swivels. You see a 350lb swivel on 80lb line. Doesn't make sense.

Also, all the attention is put on the swivel and whether its a ball bearing swivel or not.

Ours always wear out on the snap. The snap breaks before the swivel ever becomes an issue.

I've found that some of the sexiest toughest looking ball bearing swivels have the weakest snaps.

    Just more mysteries . . . LOL1
