LOL- I kinda thought this thread was going there, So Quint after you hook these big beasts what do you do with them? curious because Shark fishing is getting worse n worse every year, 20 years ago a 300-400 mako didnt get a second look, nowdays we're luck to hear of 4 to 6 caught up this way . So after you drag them up on the beach with your pickup truck - turn'em loose if your not gonna eat it, thanks!
First I tag and let go all of my sharks. And well I asked one thing I do not want people trying to give me shark 101 I got shark 101 2 years ago.
Its all good, relax and have fun, life is wayyyyyy too short.
don'thaveaboat , You are never to old or to young to learn ! You might need some sharkin 101 if you plan on staying on top of your game. the folke that have responded to your thread have a vast knowledge & UNDERSTANDING of how the game is played ! It doesn't hurt to listen. We can all learn things from others on this board & the best part of it , is that it is FREEIt sounds like you have your game plan worked out & I hope it works for you! , but why start a thread if you already have your questiones answerd
I too started Sharkin "Fixed object", the best thing I ever did was listen to others & learn. Hate to be blunt , but with your attitude your better off on land.I'm not knockin you or your efforts , I think it is great that you enjoy sharkin , just try to listen & understand the process.I shot you that PM & my offer still stands! Someone like you , that I believe has the drive would be a Great Shark fisherman down the road if you just stop & think about what others have already shared with you on this topic!!!!! I'll get of this soap box now , I wish you the very best of luck

Beach sharkin is different than boat sharkin. Yes you need to go heavy. Long though works from the beach. Short and you run into issues with your line being dragged across sandbars between fish and you...
We have a lot of guys float baits out at the inlets on the outgoing tide... I watch 9/0 reels get dumped like toys. 10/0 is better choice or old beat up penn 80... You want tough gears to go with the heavy line... I have bent the spools on senators when really hammering them down. 12/0 is a monster reel but a ***** to work with wheteher standing or even sitting...
I know short on the rod is more comfortable than long but listen to what I said about sand bars... If that fish gets into a trench which he's gonna try and the surrounding sand is higher he's gonna rub you bad. Long gets up over it.
Son if you got Sharking 101 2 years ago at the ripe old age of 10 you have 2 seasons of sharking under your belt and are still just learning the basics.. Some of these guys that are offering you some insight to beach sharking, were sharking years before you were even born.. There are guys on this board that are considered by some to be among the best at what they do and will tell you strait up they are still learning. With the attitude of "i already know what i am talking about" with 2 years experience you wiill never increase your knowledge or skill beyond that of a 12 year old..
The 2 Best pieces of advise i ever got about fishing were
"Keep your eyes, ears, and mind open" and "PAY ATTENTION"
First off I never said I don't want to learn why do you think I am on these sites anyway I just asked one thing and only one thing I did not ask for anything else most guys on here don't even shore fish so I would ask on tx-sharkfishing.com witch is all shore fishing for sharks. And you are damn right about the 9/0 I already replaced the drag and gears. One last thing is that stop thinking I am boat fishing I am beach and pier fishing I have never boat fished.
