    Rods stuck together

I have two 80# class rods with Varmac reel seats. Both detach at the handle. Problem is they were not taken apart regularly and are now corroded together. However, the corrosion is not bad. Any suggestions as to what is the best solvent or method to get them apart? Thanks, Bill

You might try pouring boiling water over it.

If these dont work try something like CLR for your bathtub. It dissolves rust and corrosion, as well as salt and lime build up. Ive used it on aluminum parts in the past to free up seized joints.

Use Inox , CRC or WD40 on it and let it sit for a while. You could grip the rod with a leather belt around it, like taking off an oil filter. Good luck!
