    Rod Build Questions

I am building a 300gm jigging rod and have a couple questions..

I am planning on doing an underwrap of size A and then overwrap with D. For this class rod would you recommend doing a single or double overwrap?

Is there any advantage to coating the blank in between the guides with some type of finish as opposed to leaving the blank unfinished? I know this adds weight, but does it also add protection to the blank?

    Thanks,

    JRJB

Min. Double wrap the guide feet
Some blanks are finished, some are not.If the blank has a shine to it,your probally ok just doing the wraps.
As far as finish coating & adding weight, how much do you really think your adding? Wouldn't worry much about that.
    Good Luck!

D Looks fine and is stronger..long term your guide feet may loosen and allow water intrusion, creating a clouding foggy appearance, then it rots out and rusts your guide feet. But everyone has their own ways of doing things, thats for sure.
    Good luck!

Ok here we go...sure send it on over Jazz!
Do we need to go back to rod building school here or what?
All kidding aside, use you what ever floats your boat,,,but I use the stonger D thread whenever possible,,even on my base wraps for additional long term blank protection from guide feet, maybe the A on light rods for ice fishing.
Good Luck anyways on your build and think long term here
