On the road in our every day lives

    Hey guys,
Im busy building and have not had a chance to do anything besides build, but will get back to video's real soon. That, and some other stuff that I need to do for the site. Well, Im trying to wind down to get some sleep, but wanted to post this up as I was thinking about it the other day.

This post is going to try to spark some ideas into where you can go to buy equipment, tools, etc, from places other than the suppliers (things that are sold down the street, that we use in rodbuilding).

I think its pretty cool to find stuff that I use all the time at local shops, hardware stores, etc that I use in rodbuilding and almost always I get them for less money.

    So, here we go:

    Local independent Hardware store:
Epoxy (5 / 30 minute), drywall adhesive tape, absolutely perfect 1/4" sable hair finish brushes, masking tape, sanding screen, sandpaper, lathe tools.

    Local Ben Franklin Craft store:
glitter for finish, gold foil, marking pens, china markers, finish tins, paints for marbling, adhesives, decals

    My Dentist's office:
The tools that they use to scrape the heck outa yer teeth every 6 months are great for packing and moving thread. FYI, They throw them away when one end breaks. They are usually free!

Well, thats what I have for now. Maybe y'all can add to the list and give us some ideas where to get stuff locally!!!

    Kevin

I'll try to add to the list.

Local pharmacy - alcohol for cleaning

    Local hardware - razor blades/exacto knifes/ polyurethane

Ben Franklin/Micheals arts and crafts - thin sheets of foam for grip inlays. Also jumbo craft sticks for applying adhesive.

I use all of the above.

One thing I do different is I use Sharpes instead of China markers I use black and silver fine tips, a little acholol rubs the mark right off.

If you happen to have a harbor freight nearby, they carry heat guns, micro-torches, gloves, tape, storage bins, as well as small lathes - good for shaping grips...

Home Depot, Lowe's, Michaels are all pretty regular stops...

Michaels........ Thats the name of the place (like Ben Franklin) that I get the glitter and some other odds and ends.

They also have a huge selection of brushes. Not the cheapest, but they are good quality brushes!!!

Have used Michaels & AC Moore for thread for decorative wraps. Cheaper and just about any color you can think of to make shading.
