I have an old rod with regular braid/mono guides on it. Some of the epoxy is chipped off of it and I would like to install aftco roller giudes and rewrap it for a wireline rod. Is this easy? Would my local tackle store be able to do this?

By the time you pay the labor and parts to "upgrade" your rod, you could probably buy a new one - Check with Paul708 or Finrazor - Both make very nice rods, that won't break your wallet, and you know what you are getting.
On the other hand, you could look at Shoefish's "Tuna Rod Start to finish" thread and rebuild it yourself. Stripping the old guides is pretty easy - heat the wraps gently with a heat gun on low until the epoxy softens, then slice the wraps (carefully) with a razor - you don't want to cut into the blank. Then just peel off the wrap. From there it is just wrapping the new guides on and refinishing...
your local store should be able to do it.
you could give it a try.
like clt_capt said. it may be not much more to get a new built.
feel free to give me a call, i can help if you want to do it yourself.
