    Reel-A-Rig???

Need some help. Looking to see if anyone has any info or obsolete/broken reel-a-rig that they might sell me. I have included pictures of what I am looking for.

A good friend of mine uses this on his boat for working rigs and after "years" of use, it has seen better days. I am going to try to rebuild it, but it would be easier if I could lay my hands on some OEM parts.

I do know the company that originally made this item was Darby Metal Products in Essington, PA. They are out of business and their phone # now connects to a phone sex line...which was quite funny to me when I tried to call it.

Anyone out there that can help out?

I have one, not giving it up though.

Bought it in a consignment shop years ago and never saw another one like it till now.

Let me know if you source any spare parts.

I think you are talking about the white plastic parts of the reel. If so, you could have a machine shop make you one out of delrin or alum. It would not be to hard to turn on a lathe, I don't have acess to one anymore or I would turn you one..........Lynn

Actually its the black end piece (that's broken in the picture) that I need the most. I can deal with the broken edges on the spools, I have reassembled them so that every other spool is good/bad. Worked out fine. Just need an end.

I am going to try to make it out of starboard material...I'll let you know how it goes.

I was just hoping I would have to go through the trouble if someone had one out there that they were not using or was broken in a different way. An identical one sold on ebay 3 weeks ago (a week before I started looking) for $35 inc shipping. Everyone else that I have found so far is looking for $50 or more plus crazy shipping amounts. These are for newer models in good working order and I don't want to pay that much because I am not sure the parts will be the same. As stated was hoping to find an older model in salvagable shape.

    Thumbs up My Reel-A-Rig

I found this thread when I tried to research one that I acquired. I was disposing of some bulk trash at the Medford Township, NJ municipal garage the other day. As I was placing stuff in the trash truck someone else threw one of these in. Mine is a little different. It is attached to a stainless plate that measures roughly 9 3/8" X 12". One of the attachment screws broke when I took it apart to clean it up and both tension springs were missing. I replaced the steel screws with stainless from the hardware store. No such luck replacing the tension springs. I think it works well enough without them. This is a great idea that unfortunately did not sell well enough for boat or beach buggy fishermen. Any ideas here would be greatly appreciated.
