Reel for DFA planer rods

GOING DEEP - Dude, if you have a source that'll let Tiagra 80's go for $695.00, that's a steal and I stop even thinking about the 50's....YES, please share.

What about the innards of these two reels for comparison sake? Both main gears are the same, one of the pinion gears (low gear) matches, one (high speed) is different. That's three out of four gears that are exactly the same. The spools obviously don't match, so the drag washers won't match in size, but they match in performance (according to Shimano). I look at this like they both might be similar (on paper) but the 50 is working twice as hard to hold - translation? MORE potential for failure! If the experts say it's a T80 or nothing, then I'm getting an 80 - especially at $695.00.

MOST GUYS THAT CHANGE THE REEL OUT KNOW ABSOLUTELY ZERO ABOUT PLANER ROD FISHING.........I MAY NOT KNOW ALOT ABOUT ANYTHING BUT I WROTE THE FRIGGING BOOK ON PLANER ROD FISHING.....

SOME WANT TO CONVENCE ME THAT THEY KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT A REELS DRAG SYSTEM......YOU KNOW...THROW SOME SCIENTIFIC DATA AT ME....BULLLSHIT........PUT YOURSELF ON THE BIZNESS END OF A 100 LB DRAG SCALE ...CERTIFIED BY A TWENTY POUND WEIGHT.....AND THEN WALK IT OFF TIL YOU SET THE DRAG AT 100 LBS ON A 130 REEL..........NOW THATS DATA! ...DO THIS AND THEN WE WILL TALK!



THE BEAST WAS TESTING TIAGRAS FOR SHIMANO BEFORE THE TIAGRA WORDS WAS PUT ON THE FRIGGING REEL!!! HE FISHED THE FIRST FRIGGING 130 TIAGRA PROTOTYPES EVER IN THE WORLD............AND I STILL SEE SOME STILL THINK THEY HAVE THE REEL SIZE FIGURED OUT.....WELL GREAT



I WAS USING PENN 80 'S FOR YEARS BEFORE THE TIAGRAS....IT WAS TOUGH.... I EVEN LEARNED TO 'CUP" THE DRAG WASHER TO GET MORE OUT OF THEM BUT WITH A LOSS OF FREE SPOOL.........AND YOU TALK ABOUT THE "INNARDS" OF A TIAGRA LIKE YOU HAVE A METAL TEST CENTER IN YOUR GARAGE

Ahhhhaaaa now I understand why you have been so quite, never let it be said that I don't listen my man and I always take backups to bear fights.I allready had a Tiagra ready to roll and it will be along if needed, but I had a taste of the Avet reels from the smaller versions and I just have to test the ability of such a reel against the OEM for the DFA system if for no other reason to try to prove that AMERICAN technology can cut it in a scene where something foreign made seems to be the only thing makin it.
In case it hasn't been said out loud THANK YOU MARTY for all the information you freely gave out about YOUR system and without doubt you are the man when it comes to the DFA, I only hope us newbies to the system can someday use it half as good as you do.

I watced the two videos by WahoonBox they were great and they are also the reason I want to try using a planner this year and when I do get them I will be watching them again so I will be able to rig my the right way (Martys way)
