    Reel cleaning

What kind or brand of cleaner does anyone use in cleaning the reels, I am thinking of putting together a container to soak or clean parts. I used to use a auto small parts bath years ago, but I am unsure of what is available today. Any information would be appreciated.....Lynn

it sort of depends on how abrasion resistant the parts are. if you are talking about internal surfaces, a quick answer would be carb cleaner and an old toothbrush, followed by a little compressed air. for metal or plastic surfaces where scratching is a concern, perhaps plain dishwashing detergent and a soft cloth. if you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, that might be an option, but use only green soap in the bath.

as in so many projects of this nature, the most important ingredients are time and elbow grease. the more expensive the reel is, the more time and elbow grease are required.........
