Well .. I am sitting at home spending time with the family and waiting for the giants to start chewing again in NC and thought I'd pass some time doing some rod work. The first project that came to mind is to strip and re-wrap two 130lb class rods for my good friend and mentor Jimmy "Challenger". Jimmy , along with some other great giant fishermen, have helped me immensly over the years in getting my stuff right. Right before the MHC season started, Kobey from the Risky Business called and asked if I could pick up a few rods from Jimmy that he was going to use this season in MHC. As it turns out, Kobey only needed the reels, so I thought it would be nice for me to re-condition Jimmy's rods (they are rough and were wrapped in 1982 I believe) as payback for his help along the way ... I may not finish these before I go back to MHC to finish out the season , but thought it would be good to post some before, during and after pics .. here are a few

Now that I am in a waiting pattern on the two 130 rods(and I have the bug to build) .. I am going to finish this closed wrap I started on one of my personal rods...

Thanks Basil .. I really liked re-doing your rods, wish I had taken some pics before and after .. still one of my favorite rod sets, simple but nice ... if these rebuilds turn out as I anticipate, Jimmy should be very happy

Mark, you should give Kevin Knox a call and get some WT Express guides, if it's in the favor budget, they are pretty sweet. Im sure we can work a good price out.
On a side note the lead heads we talked about at Marty's the 5 oz lead Hoo Machine should be done end of the week to your spec's.
White powder coat head, solid aluminum leader tube, sized for .125 O. D. chafe tubing (take up to 300# leader), red eyes. PM your number so I can shout at ya when they come in for shipping instructions..
Sounds great Tim .. my number is in my signature .. give me a shout when they are ready .. No WT's in the favor budget ..but I'd love to put them on a rod one of these days
