    Quantum IR3 Anti-reverse problem

I was wanting to see if anyone could help a rookie with a reel repair issue? First let me admit upfront that I have never taken a reel apart before & it appears this might not be a future profession for me to get into I took my Quantum IRS apart to clean it & when I put it back together the spool would go in both directions. I looked up the schematic and read a few internet posts and learned that my Anti-reverse pawl assembly was installed wrong. I have spread open the little copper looking tips & put them back over the trip ratchet but now it clicks when I reel it because the anti-reverse pawl is being constantly pulled into the trip ratchet by the kick lever which has the kick lever spring attached which is putting constant pressure on the anti reverse pawl assembly. I have tried moving the kick lever so that it doesn't put constant pressure on the AR pawl but then the pawl assembly just falls back off the trip ratchet. I am pretty sure that I am just doing something wrong here but I have tried every way I can think of & cant figure it out. I have attached a picture so you can see how I am trying to install this. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your help! - MikeQuantum IR3 Anti-reverse problem-ir3-antireverse-pawl1.jpgQuantum IR3 Anti-reverse problem-ir3-antireverse-pawl2.jpg

mike, i think the anti-reverse pawl goes on the other side. this is a right handed reel, right? there should be a stainless steel post that might fit inside the "hole" that is exactly opposite of the current position of the pawl. can you take a look and let me know? alan

    Thanks Alan you are correct!

    Hi Alan,
Thanks for the response & yes you are correct. It was actually a couple of your posts that got me interested in this forum, so I really appreciate your help with this! I guess I must have lost the pin when I took it apart & am going to look for somewhere to oreder a new one now. Again many thanks! Mike
