    point sur - 6/8/09

ran to point sur with my neighbor jeff and his daughter sandra. i was going to take the kayaks but the weather was looking too rough.

figured i would at least put sandra to work. she makes a great skipper.

the water started out lumpy with an easy 10 knots of wind.

just past point pinos, the seas layed down really nicely, then got ugly again at point sur.

    fishing was quick and easy.

things started to slow down after 10am.

we finished up with two stringers of blacks and blues, and one nice stringers of vermillions and coppers.

the return trip was pretty rough. to make matters worse, i burned up a wheel bearing ion the trailer driving home. i probably ruined the axle and brakes. i'm off to central valley marine in the morning.

Just like reels, they take a little grease too

Hope it comes out ok for you. Great report and looks like good times with family.

Breathtaking scenery, good company and fine fishing! Looking great Alan, glad you've been giving the Grady and your tackle a workout. Sorry about the trailer bearing. Hopefully it's an easy and painless ($) fix.

Big Grouper off my brother, Mike's Boat off Cape Hatteras

    Nice catch, Sandra!

I was fishing with my brother Mike and his wife Nancy off Cape Hatteras overnight. They were sleeping on the deck and I pulled up my line. I had caught 2 eels, I think one was an american condor and the other was a Moray eel. The third hook had a fish just like the orange one you were holding-my brother called ait a "big Eye." Do you know the name of the fish-is it good eating! Nice catch-I hope to take my daughter fishing some day. EddieC
