    I built up the layers first, then undid the wrap and added epoxy as I re wrapped, let the whole thing dry, then turned it down to fit snugly in the blank. Seems solid to me.

    Flatliner may be better qualified to answer the question though.

    Not necessarily "wrong", but more effort and time than required. Wrap the mesh tape around, mix your epoxy, take a knife and force the epoxy into the mesh tape, apply liberally and then insert into the ferrule and let it dry.

    I think it would be easy to over think this. By creating multiple layers of epoxy, variables are being introduced that could possibly result in failure.

    First rod using ProKote and gotta say, I like it. The extended working time allows it to flow and purge air bubbles better but the low viscosity caused me to get more air bubbles when I was mixing, need to be more careful next time.

    Second coat is spinning as I type, check the pics. It should level out a little better in an hour or so.
