So this rod building is like crack to me. I'm replacing every offshore rod I have (no need to replace my jigging stuff, I have a great JPR build and a JM). I will build a twin to this rod as well as my 30 class and also 5 50 class rods.
Anyway my latest build is a 7 foot pitch bait rod that will be matched to a TLD-25. Kevin gave my some good advice to help improve my finish that I think worked or at least improved my final finish. I'm also having fun playing with the Abalone, I feel that I have to mention once again if you plan on trying Abalone get Kevin's DVD. On this rod I wrapped all the way to the tip 10mm with no problems.
I wanted to try something a little different and not use a slick butt, but still keep the weight down. So I went with carbon fiber tubing, I like how it feels now just to see how it holds up over the season.
All comments are welcome.
