    Pitch / Live Bait Rod

So this rod building is like crack to me. I'm replacing every offshore rod I have (no need to replace my jigging stuff, I have a great JPR build and a JM). I will build a twin to this rod as well as my 30 class and also 5 50 class rods.

Anyway my latest build is a 7 foot pitch bait rod that will be matched to a TLD-25. Kevin gave my some good advice to help improve my finish that I think worked or at least improved my final finish. I'm also having fun playing with the Abalone, I feel that I have to mention once again if you plan on trying Abalone get Kevin's DVD. On this rod I wrapped all the way to the tip 10mm with no problems.

I wanted to try something a little different and not use a slick butt, but still keep the weight down. So I went with carbon fiber tubing, I like how it feels now just to see how it holds up over the season.

    All comments are welcome.

    Rod stats:
    Blank - Batson RCLB 70 M
    Gimbal - Perfection Aluminum Gray
Reel Seat - Perfection Aluminum Gray
Rear Grip - Cabron Fiber tubing
    Guides - American Tackle Turbo

Really nice work. It is addictive. I think you'll be happy with the carbon tube. I have made a few with carbon over foam that are holding up great after a couple of years.

Thanks Kevin (for all your help and videos).

Yes it is very light and well balanced considering it is a 7 foot rod. I think the King Mac fishermen would love the same set-up only in the RCLB 70 ML blank.

Jeff, that is a beauty... Pitching that bait to a cobia with your own rod will be even more exciting!!!

    NOT ME!!!
Welcome to the addiction! Excellent work on the rod and the gaff too. I think the carbon fiber butt will be fine, as long as you're not trolling with the rod in a holder. As a pitch rod it should last forever.
