    Peter Pakula's advice paid off!

Team Forgiven fished the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club Memorial Day Tournament a few weeks back in the northern gulf of Mexico. Crew was my sister, her son , my daughter and myself. I had taken to heart Peter Pakula's advice on changing up my spread (see earlier post). One of his suggestions was to put a Pakula Phenom in my LR position. It paid off as every fish we caught that weekend came on that lure! There were just under 500 anglers fishing and 41 billfish caught, we caught and released a white marlin on Saturday, also on the LR Phantom in Fallen Angel color. It was my nephews first billfish and he was stoked! Yesterday after a weeks rest I went back out by myself and once again the Phantom was the lure! It caught the wahoo in the brief video as well as a few smaller dolphin. I am not sure if it's the lure or the overall pattern of lures and teasers that are working, but Peter's Phenom has become my new "hot" lure with a Pakula Mouse and Sprocket in the mix as well! One thing I have noticed about Peter's designs is, they almost always run correctly on just about any sea condition and speed above 5 knts and under 8 knts. I can't say that for many other designs!

After seeing some free jumping Yellowfin I put one of Fred's superbars out on shotgun and caught a nice YF.

I can honestly say that all the information that Peter has put on the web is invaluable! Same goes for Capt Fred and his ebooks!

Congrats on your tourney.....beautiful family....beautiful boat....Having confidence in your spread, can make a World of difference...And you have some good teachers/lures (Pete/Fred) too.

On a side note...a cool little trick...Try sliding a Hoo through your doors ungaffed...Them buggers will never thrash and remain motionless on the deck of your boat...very safe for crew.

PS - Man, when you have a hat on, you kinda look like a clean shaven Brett Favre

    Question Trolling Gear Rods

How do you find those Trolling Gear Rods hold out to the pressure of deep sea fishing?
