Besides both California-style and Japanese-style jigging, I have used my TRQ300 for everything from trolling jigs and pitching live mackerel to striped marlin, fly-lining live sardines or "stroke-trolling" hoochies for yellowfin tuna, and even casting lighter California jigs known as "surface iron" for big yellowtail.
No reel in the world does everything, and I prefer the smaller TRQ200 for most surface iron applications, and the little TRQ100 when flylining tiny live anchovies for albacore.
I also prefer a 2-speed reel for tuna over 100 pounds, no matter what they are biting on.
However, the TRQ300 does do many things well.
