Penn seagate tightlines 58
I recieved this reel from a friend. It didnt look all that great So not knowing anything about it I took it apart an dclean and lubed it. Works great. My question exactly when and for how long did pen make them? If this is any extremely old or rare reel I m not sure I want to put it into service lol. Any info will help. Thanks John

Hello and Good morning......Seagate reel goes back quite a ways.It proceeded the basic #85 and #285 reel that Penn produced for years. The Seahawk and Seaford conventional reels were produced around 1933.So your Seagate reel falls in right around that time frame. The #17 Penn catalog doesn't show these reels so I know it has to be in the early '30's as a given. Not sure how long these reels were produced,I'd have to do a bit of tracking down some folks here at the plant who may know. Let me see how much more information I can find for you on this reel.
Take care.......Tom

Sit down Shut up And fish
I've got one as well and I've been told it is World War II era. Mine has senitmental value, so I don't fish it, however I could if I needed too.
the parts of it are interchangeable with Penn 60 parts.

Information
Hello and good morning....Info is tough to track down even here.Newer products are fine, but most of the older employees have moved on.....people who had some knowledge about the older reels. I'm still plugging away though.
