Penn Sargus on backorder.... any input?

hey all, for my birthday i received the usual Bass Pro gift cards. I needed a reel and enjoy using my other Sargus, so i ordered the 7000. well, it's on backorder. i'm somewhat surprised that a place like Bass Pro would have issues stocking an item like that, especially since quite a few of the Sargus models are on backorder with them. they have the 8000 and maybe the real small one available. This leads me to think that maybe there is an issue over at Penn that i might not know about.
Does anyone have any inside info on Penn and/or the Sargus backorder thing? is it just Bass Pro or is it elsewhere? I just want to get a handle on it because, instead of waiting for who knows how long, i'll just order something else. thanks!!

Good morning......The only known issue we've seen here at Penn concerning the Sargus reels has been that most stores can't keep them in stock long......they sell out that quick! We attended the Sailfish Championship in Key West a few weeks ago and received tremendous feedback on the Sargus reels from people that used them.During our week down there, we made a stop at quite a few tackle shops and everyone one said the best seller they had was the Sargus spinners.They just said as fast as they would stock them,they would sell them.I don't think it may be a issue per se,just a demand for a nice working reel at a nice price.Any other questions you may have,please feel free to drop me a line.

thanks for the reply Tom. seems to be consistent with what i'm hearing from some others -- that the supply is having trouble keeping up with the demand. i can understand since the reels are the first Penn product in a while that i've spent money on. let's hope that production can get going and i can get my reel soon!! thanks again. take care.

yeah, Rob Harris over at Conchy Joe's says good things about them. wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the ones you spoke to. like i said, this is my second one, so you've got a happy customer here.
