They are well proven reels and can do almost anything, but what is your use? Also as a side bit of info, Penn no longer makes reels in the USA, unless they are Gold Series reels, meaning internationals. Have not heard any issues as of yet, but sending their products to China to be built may cause some problems in the future, but only time can really tell.
my penn 113hn rocks, I love it. It ain't pretty but is hands down my favorite striper chunking/jigging reel. Good drag for a star drag reel and rock solid. (mine are USA models) Easily serviced and maintained, I plan to buy two more but I will disassemble and go through them to look for differences if they are assembled in china. Grease the drag washers and I bet they can handle s-mbft
i think they got good reviews when they came out..seems to be a nice reel for the money.
Guys,
Are there any CS problems with Penn? If i have a problems do they really stand behind their product? For the money how do they compare to other makes? TIA

I had my last 2 reels come back from being serviced broke....and then Penn gave me the run around. Took me a while to actually get through to someone who listened and is taking care of them at no cost. Needless to say, they will be sold as soon as I get them back. I never had a problem with them until they got bought out within the last year. IMHO CS is very similar within all the big companies, it really depends on who you talk to. Not sure what you plan to use it for, it is hard to judge its value versus other reels if we do not know what your use is. Without a use we cannot determine what reels are comparable for your use. IMHO Avet provides me the best value for the fishing I do, but I know not everyone has used or jumped on Avet's yet. I've had zero issues and I personally know who services my reels so I trust them and know I get them back quickly and done right. For my use, they are the best bang for my buck, that may not be the case for others.
Guys,
Sorry guys i should have mentioned the use earlier. I plan on using it for pier and off boat fishing off the coast. Kinda like my go to rig.

good reel for the money i use a pair of 114hlw for tuna/shark fishing good reel for a buget.
I have caught many decent sized Mahi, Barracuda, skipjack tuna, YFT, and even some wahoo with my 113h spooled with 40# ande, I love it. I don't imagine you could land anything big though. All the fish I caught were 30# and under. I almost got spooled by a close to 30 pound wahoo. Over all great reel.
