Penn 50vsx line question

I'm new at this, OK?

I just purchased 2 Penn 50VSX and I need your opinions on what line to use. I fish East So. Fla. and the Bahamas.

I now they recomend 50# line for this reel but I have a new spool of Momoi's 80# Mono, is that overkill? And does anybody know what yardage I'll get with 80#?

Check out Berkly Big Game HI Test 50 or 60lb , there is also Momoi Diamond 50 or 60lb . Both of these Monos test out at a higher line rate. You should get more yardage on the reels with the same benefit as the 80lb strengh. To be quite honest if your drags are set correctly 50lb test can be hard to break in open water ! This reel is designed to be spooled mostly with braid, such as Jerry Brown Hollow Core.

I'd spool it with 130lb JB Hollow Core and a 100 yard mono topshot.

John is rite !!!! That reel will handle 130lb Braid with no problem! , The VSX series was made to hanle the Heavier Braid lines ! Once again , sorry I read the VS part & not the X
