    Penn 30/50 handle maintenance

How do you take apart the old pre-2000 Penn conventional handles w/ the handle riveted to the arm. All mine are stiff; no doubt all the oil I've fed them has gunked up and I'd like to clean them out inside.

I suspect the answer is "buy some of the new ones"

    Hey Backman-

I don't have the answer....but this expert sure does- this is just a cut & paste below- but his contact info is at the bottom:

    Removing the oiler cover
Hello Brian...... How are you? The oiler that we're talking about can be removed pretty easy.A small punch can be inserted into the hole and with side leverage, start to push up and around till it pops out for you.Look down in the hole and you'll find that you can use a slotted screwdriver to hold that end for removal of the handle from the handle blank.Any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Question about your 50VSW reel....does it have the large oversized black shift button or the early style smaller type?

    Take care.....Tom
