I have not bought any reels for a few years. Can you experts tell me what are the differences between the Penn Slammer, Penn Spinfisher SS, Penn Spinfisher SSg and the Penn Spinfisher Z line of reels. I know ther are some differences in materials and performance. I need the line that will provide a great inshore trout, redfish and flounder reel. And info on rods and the right length will also be appreciated.
I can't even remember what the question was,.... Scramble, I just stubbed my toe and think I may have broken it. I'm in dire need of a doctor.........................Whats that? You're a nurse you say! Well o.k., the pain is located actually a little further north of the toe,
Oh crap, I just realized you're taken. Sorry, the toe feels better.
Don't hold it against me for the highjack. And to get back on track I'm really not sure about the Penn line of spinners, but I do a bit of FL fishing. Same species and more. Here's the thing, in FL, you never know what you're going to hook. Could be small, could be medium, or it could be another trophy. The salt along with the salt air along the shore and on the water seems to have more deteriorating qualities and therefor I would push you towards notching up. I fish with Quantum Cabo reels outfitted on St. Crois rods. I love the feel of this set-up. St. Crois are light and really balanced, the Quantum Cabo reels have a lot of new technology to them and they are completely sealed. Ooops, dropped it in the water while flats fishing, it's o.k. Bring her home and give her a good rinse. Do that to a Penn and you'll be buying a new one before the season is done. And I'm a Penn guy. Own about twelve old Penn spinning reels along with eight internationals. It's just I know what will happen to a Penn casing in FL. Just my .82 cents. Good luck!

So you are fishing inshore in a 27 horn? That baby needs to be cut loose and run 60 miles offshore. I fish out of Destin also and I recommend Shimano at least a Spheros and 7' Terramar M for inshore. There is also the Stradic, Saragoosa, sustain and of course the Stella. The top of the line spinning reel.
