Okuma titus silver Vs other brands

I have a okuma titus silver 50 wide two speed and I keep getting told that they are not a good reels, but i have had mine for a almost a year and have not had any problems. I have not had the chance to fish with a penn or shamano 50 class reel yet, but i do not see a diffrence exept maby in drag capibilities?

Basically there is a manufacturing quality difference. They almost always have less drag capability and when you tear them down you will most likely find some assembly mistakes. At the very least they seem to corrode much faster than the better quality reels. Just out of curiosity do you reels have a sharp edge on the back of the bridge? I have 2 of those reels for sharking and if you are'nt careful you can shave your live down while level winding it in. My advice is to tear it down completely using Alantani's post and grease where he greases it. After that they can be pretty dependable good reels.

I just looked at it and there is are some sharp places in the corners, but only there.
