    New guy needs help

I just picked up an Okuma TG-50 Titus Gold for a really good price, and i was wondering what rod i should put it on. Im looking to spend less than $150 is possible. I will probably use 65 power pro. It will get used for stand up fishing.

    Danferd,
WOW! I think that's a first for the rodbuilding forum! First post is here on this page!! Welcome!

I think its going to be tough to get a rod for that price to match the reel, but I will do some digging and see what I come up with.

    Where are you located?

Im in NJ, Gloucester County to be specific. This is my first big game setup so im trying to go the budget route, i heard the titus reels were not the best but with regular maintenance they should be ok for what im doing.

You can probably get an off the shelf Shimano Talevera Butterfly Jigging rod for about that price. I have one - but haven't used it much - and haven't gotten around to building a jigging rod for myself yet.

For another $100 you could probably get a decent custom rod

Titus gold is a trolling reel. You could go the penn slammer route, but the guides will probably pop off in the first few trips. Look up pinnacle rods. I think thats the name. They specialize in china rods and hear that they are fine for the money.
