Mastering the Art of Marbled Finishes

Marbled Finishes applied to fishing rods

Perhaps you have never seen nor heard of marbled fishing rods,so heres some quick information on the subject.

Truly a talented art involving much more time in the rod build vs traditional thread work, but the rewards are remarkable and options limitless.

You really cannot teach or explain this process as I feel it is a very fortunate god given gift.

You have to envision the end result and use imagination everytime you countlessly touch the rod.
The application is permanent, does not add notable weight to the rod,nor does it affect the action of the blank itself.
The unique marble application not only adds strength to the blank, but actually aids in the protection from all forms of possible damage, including saltwater and especially the sun's powerful U.V. rays, which in time absolutly will weaken a rod blank and thread guide wraps, and we all know what is possible after that happens.

It's a win/win for you and your investment.

If you have a minute and would like to see the many examples of marbled finish rods ,click on the link provided below and check out our 2 huge gallery of rods.http://armbreakercustomrods.com/

If you have any other questions,I will gladly try to answer them all for you.
God bless and thank you for reading this.

Popular a few years ago,,lol...I find that one seriously hard to believe! My orders are only increasing as more people find out about me here. Why have a plain rod when you can have a marbled finish rod in the clients color choices for a few dollars more?
That albalone is nice also, but you can only do so much with that, and it cretes that same sparkle effect no matter what you do with it, unlike true marbling. The ladies do seem to like the albalone shell in an inlay or something like that. I havn't seen anyones marbling that looks like genuine marble though, like I create.Having the rod look like a piece of marble like say off a marble pillar or sill, is what I am talking about, and is totally different from anything I have seen out there and is very realistic in comparision. You do demo's huh? Wow thats great! I would love to see your work.

I might have to start going to church again, 11 years of catholic schooling and god didn't bestow this art of fake rock making on me.

Please tell us why or how this application requires more skillfull artistic creativity than fine thread work.

Well all I can say to that is,,,you want a Diamond wrap or a Chevron,,lol,, give marble finishing a go and you will then see how & why,and try it on the entire rod,not just a 6" section!
To me,and this is "my opinion",(like Tred Barta' says),thread is just that, and has become quite boring these days, and perhaps it cases does take more time for some, but then your paying so much more for that thread wrap, as where a true marbled finish has as much or more visual beauty and at far less cost to the purchaser. It's far more unique. Its all in the eyes of the beholder. In my opinion, diamond wraps, chevrons etc...folks are quite tired of those same ole looks that in turn add much more to the cost of that rod. Thats all folks. Read between the lines.
11 years of Catholic school is not a guaranteed ticket to anything either my friend.

The next bite on a jig.
I for one, really like the look of the marbled finish.

I have been admiring AB's work. It really seems like AB has some color combinations that are really complimentary.

Don't get me wrong, I like the look, the silver black combo is one of the sharpest I have ever seen....but you still have not answered my question on what makes it so difficult that you can't explain it. I don't know, I've never tried marblizing anything. You've got me interests peaked now.....It's understandable if this is your trade secret and you don't share your knowledge.
I'm just curious on how the finish holds up with time, is it something that you can lightly sand and apply a clear coat after years of service or does it hold up well enough that it is a one time deal?

Marblizing has been around more than a few years. I did gaffs and rods for people here in Ocean city over ten years ago and still do it today. But is much easier than diamonds and cheverons to each thier own thats why its custom rods we build. Every builder has thier own art form to offer some have many.
