If you are going to use Lead or pewter (low temp melt metals), then you can use a silicone mold.

TAP Plastics carries RTV Silicone Liquid. You make the mold in 2 parts and when the mold has cured you can pour your lead in.

There are some mold making videos there as well...

    www.tapplastics.com

UScomposites.com also carries the same rtv silicone...

Also hit the search button at the top of the page and search for mold - there are a couple of good threads.

Lead is probably the easiest to get, and lowest temp melt.

You will need to let the mold cool down after each pour...

    molds

I used to make my own slab jigs and diamond style jigs when I was a kid. I made molds from cardboard and set them in cool sand.................Very low tech, but it worked. RTV is the way to go, but you will find the material is very expensive. BTW......be v careful, lead fumes are very toxic..................................Good Luck

Lead is not going to be as good as stainless for lures like hopkins, etc. You may want to mold a brass wire into the lead - like you see on the butterfly jigs... You can buy them here-www.barlowstackle.com

You won't be able to use RTV for stainless - too hot...

I used molds from Do-It mfg for lead sinkers and jig heads up to 1oz. Before that I used clay molds. I get my lead mostly from tire shops.
