Making a center rigger from a rod blank?

Seems to me (with NO rod builing experience) that it would be pretty easy to make a center rigger for a CC T top out of a heavy rod blank (6.5' 130??)

Has anyone ever done this? I'm thining something REALLY easy, like two rollers (one at tip and one half way up) with 400 lb mono and release clip run to a small pulley crimped to the rod holder or something.....

I'm not the brightest bulb out there, so surely someone has tried something like this and probably has a better idea.

What blank did you use? I've never done anything with rod blanks, but need a winter project.

hell, I've got an old broomstick of a fiberglass rod that's been in the t-top rod holders holding a shotgun line. Works fine...

Never had one, I was a lineman.
Shur-Hold Brush Handle. Its telescopic, and aluminum and easily detachable. I'll post pictures of ours in the comming days but it works perfectly from atop at 26ft center console.

I've been using a painter's pole for years.... you get a telescoping uprigger for about $15. Tape on a release clip and you are good to go.

that's a damn good idea! Pull it down later and zip tie the squid net to it for a long reach when you're chunking at night too.
