    Loop protector or SS thimble??

Which one is better, the green vinyl coated wire "loop protector" or the Stainless steel thimbles for heavy mono? Which do you prefer and why? Thanks.

THE ONLY TIME I USE A LOOP PROTECTOR TYPE GEAR IS WHEN GIANT BLUEFIN FISHING.....AND I USE A HARD PLASTIC/VINYL HOLLOW SLEEVE THAT FITS MY LEADER PERFECT...I CUSTOM CUT EVERY ONE OF THEM....AND THIS IS VERY STEALTH .

....THIS IS JUST MY WAY AND NOT THE ONLY WAY

AND IF YOU REALLY WANT TO MAKE IT SIMPLE AND CHEAP....JUST ADD A SHOT OF #10 WIRE ALONG BESIDE YOUR MONO LEADER LOOP AND THEN CRIMP WITHIN....

AND LIKE ALL CONNECTIONS...EVERY CONNECTION FROM THE MAINLINE TO THE LEADER TO THE HOOK ....ALL SHOULD BE RE-CRIMPED DAILY....NO EXCEPTIONS.

That's what I would do too if I could find some. I can't seem to find anything like that at any of the tackle shops or big sport stores. Where do you get yours from? Thanks Box.

Black Bart sells it or you may be able to find some in your local hardware or auto parts store. (small poly fuel line)

hi pressure air/break line from the local auto parts store will be some of the best chafing gear you will find... take a piece of mono with you and match up the right size tubing for the leader your using. I know they will have a size that 200 seagar fits in like a glove. I used the same size down to 150 and it still worked great.

I use the vinyl tube loop protectors. I DO NOT like the metal thimbles. Metal thimbles should be used for cable only. Even then they're not necessary.

The metal thimbles can turn and cut into the leader.

I just use an offshore loop and never had a problem? Takes less time for sure.
