    Here's the latest - an inshore spinning rod - The grips are carbon over foam, The abalone is "Blue angel wing"

    this rod looks even better in person. I had commented on some of Fred's other rods in a previous thread, when Fred pm'd me asking about my rod preferences. Couple weeks later, FedEx delivered this beauty to my front door. I can not thank Fred enough for this amazing rod. Right now I'm deciding on which reel is worthy enough to be mated with this work of art. Then, its time to go after some stripers. Thanks again Fred, your generosity is greatly appreciated! Oh yea, its Hooper approved as well!

    The grip is carbon sleeve over foam. It is smooth. The first coat is West System to bond the carbon to the foam, then 3 coats of Flexcoat Lite to smooth it out.

    Even though it is smooth, it isn't slick - seems to have a better feel as it gets wet.
