Brother, I gotta tell you. You probably know that Im not a fan of the dildo handles, snakehead grips and stuff like that, but this rod is absolutely beautiful. The time that you put into that had to be way up there!

Dildo..hahaha,oh you must mean the Genuine Ostrich w quills.Yep thats a heck of a grip and as you might well know is the richest/toughest of leathers,along with Gator and Croc.It shouts custom and just finishes the rods perfectly with my marble finishes.
I personally think it's all about the grips and handles when it comes to custom,alot of xtra time involved,but I love the final product.
Did you happen to see that purple Ostrich on that Ladies Hummingbird rod Kevin? That's my favorite color without a doubt right there brother.
Kevin,wait until you see the rod I am currently working on now with genuine albalone underwraps,ect like you like to do right,but this isnt the heated and bent laminate with adhesive sold at mudhole or anything like that,this is the real deal here,and I tucked it in along with a marbled finish to boot! I cant wait to finish this and make a video on it.I will be sure to post em up as soon as I get finished up with this.Gotta keep on keepin on they say,taking it higher each time.You wonder where the top is,,lol

Damn, get rid of the fang pic! I get chills, not from the cold weather, but from that damn picture.

The abalone I sell and Mudhole sells it 100 % real abalone. Its not imitation at all.

Just wanted to make that clear so people reading this didn't get the impression that I was selling imitation stuff.

Kevin I forgot to mention that come the first of the year I am going to offer any fish you'd like,handcrafted from Genuine Albalone,like the Marlin I did here.I am working on a Wahoo now and Peacock bass.
2 1/2"- 3" in length
This is a real mission here my friend,but I love doing it so why not add it to my arsenal along with everything else right? Let me know if you ever need any .Allow 3-4 weeks though.
Will post the new fish as i put them all together to achieve my collection..this will take some time with so many fish out there to make!

Oh I know it is real Kevin? Seems much thinner than the stuff I am working with now..I guess they shaved it so it will bend with the heating.

Yeah, they carve out the insides of abalone shells with a laser to get it to .15mm thickness.

The heatgun doesn't do anything to make it bend. I have people emailing me weekly saying they tried that method and it didn't work. If you get Rodmaker, the upcoming issue that is in the mail now has an article on how to bend it.

I use heat gun and go back and forth over it while rubbing across the laminate and works fine,,takes much patience and practice,you just cant hurry it at all,like anything,but works great.
This thicker Albalone slabs I am importing just seem to have a deeper look to it and seems to catch the light better than the laminates..maybe I will do a pictures side by side comparsion in future to see for sure.
