ok, so let me get this straight. . . he brings the tag end back up between the two lines and flosses it off so it doesnt slip back down???

this seems like more work to reach the same goal. Knock on wood, i have never had a bimini fail. I have even had one or two of the half hitches slip free and the knot still holds. I have never really tested it, but "they" say that the bimini retains 100% of the lines breaking strength while some knots reduce it to 90%, 80%, or even 70 or less with some knots.

but i am still curious about this knot, mainly cuz i like to learn new things. wethere they work or not, i still like knowing as much as i can.

Since were on the topic, how long of a double line does everyone use?

I guess if your tourny fishing you must limit it to 40' (leader/double line combo).

The way I understand it is double line is limited to thirty/ Leader is limited to thirty. Combined they cannot exceed forty (>20lb/10kg). What lenght are you running bobby?

Bobby, lord knows I'm an idiot, but I don't think a knot ( half hitches, uni, etc) reduce the integrety of the Bimini twist. I think the knots just prevent the twist from unravelling. Thus, even though the knotted side may be less than 100%, you still have 100% on the other side-- so it's not 200% or if the strong side fails , granted you are left with less than 100%. The knotless splice would be neat if not a PIA as the knots screw up an otherwise pretty twist-- except on braid ( which is always pretty). But then again, I hear all those that say other double line methods work fine, which are much less than the 100%+ ( single line stength) of the bimini. Point is-- I wanna know how to do the knotless thing

Glen, Im no knot Guru but what causes a knot to have lesser breaking strength than the main line if it isnt caused by the sinching or the friction on the mono. This is only my explaination of what happens.
