I am looking into building a couple of jigging rods and maybe a popper. I have been trying to research all of the different blanks on the market but there are so many I don't really know which way to turn. I figured I would try and get a little input from some of the more experienced guys on here.
I know there might not be exactly what I am looking for out there, I am just looking for your recommendations as to what would fit these profiles best.
What I am looking for:
1. Reasonably priced, tough, and as light as possible blanks. Looking for something under $150.00 and preferably under $100.00.
2. Jigging rods:
a. I am looking to build one spinner around 5'8" in length and rated 80lb 4-10oz range.
b. Conventional spiral wrap 5'6"-6', 80lb, 5-11oz range.
These jigging rods will be used for tuna, and aj in the 30-120lb class, as well as pulling big grouper out of the rocks. 25-35lbs drag except for the grouper=NO DRAG!
3. Popping Rod:
a. Looking for something around 7'6" in length that is rated 60-80lb and will handle 4-8oz.
The popping rod will be an all around casting rod that I hope to use on tuna and aj up to 120lbs, and also use it for jigging when I need a longer stroking action.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated!
